Syracuse Art Show: ‘On Longing’

Longing is the theme of the exhibition of Holly Greenberg, organized by the Syracuse University Florence The show, On Longing consists of a series of prints on three-meter long hand carved woodblocks.

Longing and desire are some of the most ambiguous emotions. Nowadays the world is about the happiness of possession and the desperation of longing for something new, something unique. Devaluating the uniqueness of the self these emotions create an environment where individuals are turned into consumers with common needs and common wants.

Recognized by The Woodcut Artists’ Handbook her installations and print work has been displayed in the United States and abroad as well. Holly Greenberg painter and printmaker is an associate professor of printmaking at Syracuse University Florence. After the topics of gender and language her creations now focus on an aspect of egotism.

The artist presents her works at 6;30 pm as part of the opening ceremony.  (gréta szabó)
