Chiarot New Head at Opera di Firenze

The Opera di Firenze has announced the appointment of the new superintendent of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Foundation.  The choice fell on Cristiano Chiarot, 64, made official by Culture Heritage Minister Dario Franchescini.   He held the same position at Venice’s Teatro della Fenice starting in 2010 and will replace Francesco Bianchi, who managed the Florentine musical institution from 2013 to February 2017.

“Difficult days are ahead, but we must relaunch the theatre and once again warm the hearts of a sizeable new audience,” said Chiarot, whose career at La Fenice started in 1991 as the head press relations department.  He is currently the president of ANFOLS, the National Association of Italian Opera Houses.
