The Multimedia Da Vinci Experience

Just a few steps from Ponte Vecchio lies the old Romanesque church of Santo Stefano al Ponte which is hosting newest exhibition in Florence, the Da Vinci Experience, produced by the cross-media Group. At a reduced price of 10 euros for students and 65+, and a full price of 12 euros, visitors can see recreations of Da Vinci’s machines, use high tech 3-D eye glasses, and experience projections onto the walls of the church accompanied by music.

Da Vinci’s greatest works such as The Last Supper, the Mona Lisa, the Vitruvian Man, and the newly restored Adoration of the Magi are just a few of the works screened.  tells a story of Da Vinci’s life and even give quotes that allow the visitor to see even deeper into the genius’s mind. The nine giant screens, Dolby surround sound, and high definition images allure the viewer and encapsulate the mind with emotions. But it is not what the viewer feels, knowledge is also an important aspect for participants.

Life-size models of Da Vinci’s original machines are set up in the foyer including his wing for human flight that is suspended above the viewers as they watch the show. A special exhibition for kids is installed at the entrance way to transport anyone who pays the additional three euros to a fantasy, multi-dimensional world using movement, water, wind, soap bubbles, and light. Following the success of the Klimt experience, the Da Vinci experience will also be available around Italy and abroad.  (danna friedman)
