Peretola Airport: New Runway Confirmed

A year after the Environment Minister’s ‘OK,’ the Italian government is now able to sign a contract, which will allow the construction of the new runway at the Florence airport. The plan is to create a longer, more extensive runway permitting more flights to come into the small airport. The new track will run parallel to the existing one.

In previous years, the inhabitants of the surrounding areas have been firmly against the idea, which effectively blocked its construction; however issues appear to be settled.

Florence mayor Dario Nardella commented on the matter; “we can now finally begin developing the potential of Peretola and will work hard so that Florence can catch up with modern, European cities with a flight capacity to match.”
