Back to the Future at ‘Vintage Selection’

Designers, buyers, and retro enthusiasts will gather at the Fortezza da Basso from June 28 – 30 to sift through today’s cherished styles: oversized-geometric sunglasses, vibrant silk scarves, and small-scale designer shoulder bags from previous Gucci, Coach, and Prada collections.

Designers, buyers, and retro enthusiasts will gather at the Fortezza da Basso from June 28 – 30 to sift through yesterday’s cherished styles: oversized geometric sunglasses, vibrant silk scarves, and small-scale designer shoulder bags from previous Gucci, Coach, and Prada collections.

Within the Fortezza da Basso, specialized sections will be designed to host hangers of unique, brand-less garments and wooden tables containing treasure troves of arty jewelry.  Specific collections – denim, bags, and sunglasses – are arranged in separate stands to be better appreciated by fashion lovers.

A multitude of exhibitors, both from different parts of the world and Florence alike, will contribute the hottest items that vintage hunters seek.  Street Doing Couture Vintage and Mercantino di Ninni from Florence will show their best clothing and accessories. A.N.G.E.L.O. one of the largest vintage shops in Europe, offers their unique pieces, some dating back to 1850. Other big names in the vintage industry will also showcase their treasures to fair-goers.  Beyond clothing and accessories, uniquely selected pieces of timeless furniture from Shabby Chic Vintage will also be situated within the space.

Other big names in the vintage industry, such as Agenda Vintage, Anna Maria and Margherita Vintage, Etoile Vintage Couture, Gaudeli’s, Juelsejim Archivio Storico, Laura Vintage, Only One Brescia, Punti di Vista SAS, PX Military Vintage, Recollection by Albrici, Re-Chic Boutique, Shabby Chic Vintage, Venturino Archivi, Vintageart, and Vintage Delrium of Franco Jacassi will offer their treasures to fair-goers.

Creatives from all over the world will join to embrace vintage’s contemporary culture, deriving inspiration for what might be next season’s hottest trend. There will be a research laboratory specifically dedicated to facilitating this process, containing archives from every previous edition of “Vintage Selection.”

In accordance with this summer’s Pitti Immagine’s flower focus, the fair’s “Vintage Rebloom” theme will replant the seeds of fashion’s past illustrating the floral universe. The “Bloom & ReBloom” exhibition will feature 20 distinctive looks, combining garments and accessories from the ‘30s through the ‘90s that reflect the spirit of nature.

As a respite from shopping, guests can take a break at the themed café.  Vintage Selection will be open from 9 am – 7 pm, 9 am to 4 pm on June 30.  Admission is €5; but a €2 discount is available at www.vintageselection.it.
