Chianina Beef Food Truck Makes Its Debut

The food truck is an up-and-coming phenomenon making its way out of the States into the rest of the world. A food truck is a mobile kitchen creating a new and vibrant industry and has become a beloved addition to the urban dining experience.

La Toraia (Torello) is an all-organic food truck that sells street food including Chianina hamburgers and their own artisan beers. Owner Enrico Lagorio loves to create, using mainly products from his own farm and ranch in Tuscany’s Val di Chiana. By creating a food truck, Enrico had a vision to share his passion of cuisine with the rest of Italy.

For only five euros, hungry customers can delight in one of freshest Chianina burgers and add whatever their heart desires: grilled onions, grilled peppers, cheese and even Heinz ketchup—a classic. Every patty is grilled to juicy perfection right in front of your eyes. All of La Torais’s meat comes from their ranch along with all their own personally grown vegetables. They even make their own hamburger buns and beer.

Meat and veggies are grilled side by side until ready to be served. The burger provides a melt in your mouth experience with the clean taste of an organic product. Served in a paper holder, this burger is meant to be savored. To accompany the burger, choose one of their light or red beers, made with natural ingredients.

A truly original concept, La Toraia is located in on the lawn along the Arno River. Seated beside the water, diners can feast on a burger and drink crisp bear while enjoying the outdoor premises and serene view. Open daily noon until midnight and during the summer until 2 am on Lungarno del Tempio, just outside Florence’s city center. La Toraia is ideal for a lunch break or midnight craving. (janelle piva)
