An Easter Gift Concert in Santa Trinita

The Easter edition of the Fiesole Music School’s Momenti Musicali free concert series will take place this year on April 8 at 9 pm at the gorgeous Basilica Santa Trinita on the corner of via Tornabuoni.

The program for this year’s event showcases the Francesco Landini Schola Choir conducted by Fabio Lombardo, various soprano soloists, and the TAAG Quartet.

The well known Francesco Landini School Choir will be interpreting Franz Schubert’s An die Sonne D.439, Gott ist mein Hirt Der XXIII Psalm op. 132 D.706, and Felix Mendelssohn’s Hör mein Bitten MWV B49.

Solo soprano Clarissa Reali will be performing Quartettsats D.703, Schubert’s dramatic yet harmonious masterpiece from 1820.

Gott ist mein Hirt (The Lord is my Shepherd) is the famous Pslam 23 that was first sung by Viennese girl choirs in 1820. Mendelssohn’s Hör mein Bitten, written for soprano, choir, and organ, opens with a barrage of sounds from the vocalist and musicians, while slowly transforms into a gentle dialogue with the sweet voice of the vocalist and deep breadth of the organ.

The TAAG Quartet, featuring sopranos Graziella Failoni, Maila Fulignati, and Clarissa Reali, will be presenting various pieces by Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, and Franz Schubert.

On this spring night the audience will have the opportunity to hear Schumann’s Drei Gedichte von Emanuel Geibel op. 29 and Schhubert’s rarely performed Tre lieder op. post. 112.

Though not all the music has sacred or religious connotations, the beautiful sounds wafting through the Roman Catholic church are sure to make for a musically spiritual evening.   (tessa lucia debole)
