An Evening of Cinema & Music in Florence’s Cathedral

Ferruccio Bartoletti

A giant screen will be set up in the Florence Cathedral to host an April 21 showing of a 1923 silent film classic by Cecil B. DeMille: The Ten Commandments (Part 1) starting at 9:15 pm. Focusing on the Exodus, the installment is especially famous for the Red Sea sequence.

According to tradition, the movie will be accompanied by live music, untraditional organ music in an interpretation by Italian virtuoso Ferruccio Bartoletti.  He will play the Duomo’s majestic Mascioni organ.

Admission is free, although reservations are recommended by calling 055 2302885 or sending an email to eventi@operaduomo.firenze.it.

The event, part of the O Flos Colende series of sacred music concerts, marks the first time a cinematic event has been held at Santa Maria del Fiore.
