Financing for Brand New Tram Line

Transportation Minister Graziano Delrio signed an administrative order on January 3, 2018 to provide state funding of 47 million euros for the future creation of a fourth tram line in Florence linking the Stazione Leopolda with Le Piagge and Campi Bisenzio.  This money is being added to the 119 million euros already allocated by the government.

In making the announcement, Mayor Dario Nardella also gave statistics regarding the number of passengers on the #1 tram line, the only one currently operating (#2 and #3 will provide service sometime this year): 14,000,000 alone in 2017.

Transport and public works city councilman Stefano Giorgetti also announced that that a new bicycle path will be completed from piazza Vittorio Veneto to downtown Florence interrupted only the U.S. Consulate on Lungarno Vespucci, which is a pedestrian-only area.
