With a final score of 2-0 over Tavagnacc (Udine), Fiorentina Women’s won the finals of the Italian championship on May 6, 2017 in a home game.  Founded only two years ago (see article) as the sister team to Fiorentina team (which is currently ranked #8 in Serie A standings), Fiorentina Women’s came off the a triumphant season undaunted even by strong rivals as Brescia and Verona.

Florence’s Franchi stadium hosted 7,500 fans for the match, including spectators such as patron Andrea Dalla Valle and mayor Dario Nardella.  The action stirred the hearts of die-hard Viola fans, and the athletes of Fiorentina Women’s wear the same signature purple uniforms as the men of Fiorentina.  With the victory, next year Fiorentina Women’s are eligible to compete in Champions League.
