Florence Carnival Celebrations for the Kids

This Saturday, February 25 from 2 to 6 pm, Piazza Ognissanti will once again host its free Children’s Carnival. The Borgognissanti street association in partnership with the city of Florence will provide a festive day full of food, games and entertainment for adults and kids alike. This year an electric train will take passengers on a scenic tour of Lungarno Vespucci. There will be sweets like cotton candy, peanut brittle, and brigidini, games, cartoons, face painting, papier-mâché crafts, and traditional Florentine Stenterello masks in the piazza.

To celebrate the carnival’s tenth anniversary, the association will collaborate with a number of honorary consuls to share the art, music, clothing, and culture of Florence’s multiethnic community through a parade of participants in their country’s Carnival costumes and masks. A 10-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella train station, Piazza Ognissanti is located near the Ponte Amerigo Vespucci. In case of rain, the carnival will be cancelled.

This Saturday and Sunday, families are also invited to take part in Carnival party near the Cascine park not to be missed! Set in their breathtaking gardens in heated tents, Fosso Bandito is offering a children’s festival full of confetti, street artists, ice skating, carousels, masks, storytime and Florence’s famous fried treats.
