Free Florence Easter Week Concerts

The 2018 “O Flos Colende” series inaugural evening at the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore will feature the Tuscan premiere of the psalm Laetatus sum, recently attributed to Vivaldi, who is also represented on the program with Concerto for Strings in G Minor and the Trio Sonata in G major. The Modo Antiquo ensemble conducted by Federico Maria Sardelli will interpret Bach’s Pslam 51, BWV 1083, followed by eighteenth century organ music by Giovanni Maria Casini transcribed by the festival’s artistic director, Gabriele Giacomelli. 9:15 pm.

NEUQUA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL FESTIVAL BAND (Monday, March 26) conducted by Jonathon Lauff and Emily Binder. Auditorium Santo Stefano at Ponte Vecchio, via Por Santa Maria9 pm.  Free admission. 

VIRI GALILAEI CHOIR (Wednesday, March 28). Free admission.

The Gregorian chant choir will present “Tenebrae factae Sunt,” conducted by Enzo Ventroni, which focuses on the passion and death of Christ in a sort of sacred drama. The concert takes place at the Refectory of Santa Croce beginning at 9 pm.
