Free Puccini Opera to Remember Mafia Victims

On May 26, the day before the 25th anniversary of the Mafia bombing in Via dei Georgofili behind the Uffizi museum, in which five people were killed, there will be a performance of Puccini’s beloved opera, Madama Butterfly. Soprano Silvana Froli takes the lead role as Cio-cio-san, tenor Enrico Nenci is Pinkerton.

The Orchestra del Carmine will be conducted by Fabiano Fiorenzani and the Chorus of Montughi by Enrico Rotoli. The opera begins at 10 pm and is free to the public in Piazza della Signoria.  (anne lokken)
