Guarda Firenze, A Race with a View

April 30: GUARDA FIRENZE. Piazza San Giovanni. 9:30 am.

The 45th annual Guarda Firenze is a 10km run around some of the most historic landmarks in Florence. With a course that provides moments to appreciate these monuments and sensational views of Tuscan countryside, the Guarda Firenze is a unique way to see Florence. The run begins near the Baptistery and the Duomo in the Piazza San Giovanni, crossing over the Ponte Vecchio to climb up to Piazzale Michelangelo before finishing once again in Piazza San Giovanni.

If 10k (6.2mi) seems too daunting, there are also 3k (1.8mi) and 6k (3.7mi) walks happening simultaneously, with a special 2km race for children, fittingly called the Mini-Guarda Firenze. There are no requirements such as a medical certificate, so the whole family can participate with no problem. It costs €10 to register for the race or walks, which can be done by visiting the organizer’s office until April 28 or until 9 am on the day of near the starting line. Under 14 free.
