Friday, April 13: Inside Italian Politics: The 2018 Election and Its Aftermath. NYU Florence, Villa Sassetti, Via Bolognese 120.

New York University’s La Pietra Dialogue is hosting a daylong event with a variety of guest speakers involved in the 2018 election in Italy.

The event will highlight the electoral campaign and the election results in the morning beginning at 9:30 am. The 2018 Electoral Campaign discussion will be led by Nicolò Conti of Sapienza University of Rome and NYU Florence, Donatella Campus of the University of Bologna, Lorenzo De Sio of the LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome, and Filippo Tronconi of the University of Bologna. The Election Result and Voting Behavior discussion will be led by Alessandro Chiaramonte of the University of Florence and NYU Florence, Paolo Belucci of the University of Siena, Salvatore Vassallo of the University of Bologna, and Luca Verzichelli of the University of Siena.

The keynote speaker James Newell, of the University of Salford and the Editor of Contemporary Italian Politics, will speak about how Italy is perceived from abroad (2:30 pm).

The day will conclude with a round table discussion about possible post-election outcomes. The discussion will be led by Robert D’ Alimonte of LUISS Guido Carli University Rome and NYU Florence, Giampiero Gallo of NYU Florence, Dario Parrini and Carla Ruocco, members of the Italian Parliament, and Pasquale Pasquino of The French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and New York University (3 – 4:30 pm).
