Two young piano virtuosi — Giuseppe Albanese and Chloe Mun — will hold concerts in Florence respectively on October 29 and 30.

Winner of the prestigious Vendome prize in 2003, Albanese will interpret a program entirely devoted to Liszt at Teatro della Pergola (4 pm).

After completing music studies in Pesaro and a masters at Imola’s Accademia Pianistica, Albanese has performed in prestigious venues in London, Paris Berlin and St. Petersburg. Recently he participated in a tribute to composer Béla Bartòk on the 70th anniversary of his death.

Korean musician Chloe Mun was a child prodigy who started piano lessons at age five despite many obstacles: both her parents were disabled, the family was on welfare and she was only able to practice at school.  The hard work paid off: Mun was #1 at the 2009 Art Dream competition.  She was subsequently awarded first prize at the Geneva International Music Competition (2014) and the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (2015), the only Asian to win since 1949.

At Teatro Niccolini at 9 pm, Mun will play Mozart’s Piano Sonata in B flat as well as Schumann’s Fantasia, op. 17 and Iberia, a piano suite by Albeniz.

At the present moment she is enrolled at the Korean National University, but continues to perform — as a solo artist or accompanied by an orchestra — on stages in South Korea, Japan and Europe.

The performances are under the auspices of the Amici della Musica.  For more information, see www.amicimusica.fi.it.
