Through July 20, the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana (Italian Youth Orchestra) will perform in the fifth annual Spazi Armonici series, an event organized by the Fiesole School of Music at the Teatro Niccolini.  Formerly called ‘Teatro del Cocomero,’ the Niccolini was built in 1648 a short distance from the Duomo here in Florence.  It was not, however, until January 8 of this year that the newly restored theatre was reopened after 20 years of renovation.  This month, the beautiful theatre will hold several classical music concerts for the public for reasonable priced tickets.

The Fiesole School of Music, founded in 1974 by Piero Farulli, now has over 1,300 students. Many of these are able to train professionally with the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, founded in 1980. Young musicians from throughout Italy and Europe will perform seven more concerts at the Teatro Niccolini, all at 9 pm. Ticket prices range from €10-12.
