Writers and Human Rights: A Talk in English

Writers and Human Rights is a free talk in English that will take place on Friday, April 20 (5 pm) at the Altana in Palazzo Strozzi. The public is welcome to this event organized by PEN International, a global association of writers who promote freedom of expression and the safety of writers who defend human rights worldwide. At Writers and Human Rights, The Board of PEN International will conduct a series of public dialogues about their work.

Board members of PEN International participating include Jennifer Clement, Romana Cachioli, Anders Heger, Elizabeth Hiester, among 12 others. Clement is PEN’S International president and is the author of three novels. Cachioli is PEN’S director of International Programmes with over 20 years experience working in human rights. Heger is a writer, director of the Norwegian publishing company Cappelen Damm and President of Norwegian PEN. Hiester is an English lawyer who has worked with the PEN Declaration on Digital Freedom and since then has provided input on a number of other legal aspects of PEN’s work.
