A Breath of Spring — Easter Egg Fun

Any child can tell you that the best part about Spring is decorating Easter eggs with the whole family and Easter egg hunts.

Luckily, the Children’s Lending Library’s annual Easter egg decorating party and fundraiser is back this year on Saturday April 8 on via Rucellai 9, near the Santa Maria Novella train station.

The non-profit volunteer-run association has a collection of books for kids up to age 16. The organization is able to cover these yearly costs by membership donations and proceeds from special events.

From 4 to 6 pm, members can decorate eggs, make spring themed arts and crafts, learn calligraphy, get their face painted, and even join a lottery for special prizes.

Entrance is €5 per family with an annual membership fee that can be renewed at the door at €15 per family.

Families are suggested to bring as many hard-boiled eggs as they want to decorate, although some will be available for sale.

Through Thursday, April 13, Expat Women in Florence is holding a drive to sponsor Easter gifts for needy children at the Paperback Exchange Bookstore on Via delle Oche 4r. Visitors are invited to write an Easter message for a child to accompany a € 2 minimum donation.

All proceeds will be given to the Angels for a Day program to provide chocolate Easter eggs, each with a personalized note attached. The Paperback Exchange is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 7:30 pm, Saturday 10 am to 7:30 pm, closed Sunday.

On Easter Sunday, April 16, there will be an Easter egg hunt on the lawn of St. James American Church, via Rucellai 9 at 12 noon. (tessa lucia debole and kaylah grant)
