An exceptional bloom of flowers can be seen through May 20 below Piazzale Michelangelo in the Iris Garden. Over 10,000 varieties of iris in a full spectrum of colors can be found from all over the world. Visitors are welcomed to walk through the five-acre park to admire the flourishing garden. In addition, the 60th edition of the International Iris Competition will take place May 7 to 12. Gardening courses, events and guided tours will be offered during this annual event.
The garden is open free of charge from Monday – Friday, 10 am – 1 pm and 3 – 7:30 pm, and Saturday – Sunday, 10 am – 7:30 pm. Bus 12 and 13 can be taken from Santa Maria Novella to reach Piazzale Michaelangelo. To reserve a guided tour, visit www.societaitalianairis.com.
