A Evening of Performance Poetry by Sergio Garau

Poet Sergio Garau

On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the Circolo Vie Nuove will trade its signature Saturday night “Pinocchio Jazz” series for the rhythmic, bold power of contemporary performance poetry. The Penne Lisce collective, in collaboration with Associazione Vie Nuove and Acsit, is proud to host Sardinian poetry slammer Sergio Garau.

Starting at 8 pm, Garau will present “Risolza: 2001–2025,” a performance and anthology launch spanning 25 years of his career. How will Artificial Intelligence free itself from humans? What of the night of the Messina Bridge’s inauguration? What about global thermonuclear war? From the Red Zone of the G8 in Genoa to COVID-19 and apocalyptic text messages from God, Garau’s work is as “sharp as the Sardinian switchblade” (the Risolza) for which it is named after. Risolza offers sequels to the classics, referencing Dante and D’Annunzio, Petrarch in addition to Super Mario, Pac-Man and Alice in Wonderland to peer into the end of imagination. (H. R. D.)
