Beginning work under the Jimmy Carter administration, Friedman has since established a name for himself in the world of journalism and finance. His resume boasts correspondence work at the Financial Times, as well as by-lines for the International Herald Tribune and a column for the Wall Street Journal. Friedman has expanded his article repertoire to non-fiction; his book “This is not America” received the Rome Prize for Essays in 2017, and his most recent publication—Ten things to know about the Italian economy—is the focal point for tonight’s event. Utilizing his journalistic experience, Friedman will speak on the evolution and future of the Italian economy.
As part of the Talk at Villa Bardini event series, Friedman’s speech is one of many on this summer’s line-up of meetings on contemporary themes. Promoted by the Foundation CR Firenze in accordance with the Wimbledon Cultural Association and the Bardini and Peyron Monumental Parks Foundation, the event series opened on May 23 with poet’s Bobo Rondelli’s discussion on “Life, the clouds and jam.”
Like the other events in the Villa Bardini series, Friedman’s talk is free and open to the public, with reservations recommended for the 6:30 event. Rapper Willy Peyote will follow Friedman when the Villa Bardini series resumes next Monday. (anna staropoli)
