An Art Show to Discover: Felice Carena at Palazzo Medici Riccardi

Until February 16: FELICE CARENA, LIVING IN PAINTING.  Palazzo Medici Riccardi. Open daily 9 am – 7 pm, closed Wednesday.  Admission. €10.

“Felice Carena, Living in Painting” is a beautiful, interactive art event paying homage to one of the most important painters of 20th century Italy, Felice Carena (Turin 1879 – Venice 1966).  This exhibition focuses on his work created beginning in 1924, the year in which the artist accepted a position at Florence’s Academy of Fine Arts, where he taught until 1945. His Florentine period, as flourishing as it was intense, well exemplified by the works on display where masterpieces are accompanied by never-before-seen from private collections, will be available for public viewing for the first time! The showcase allows guests to discover Carena’s connection with the city of Florence and the region of Tuscany in addition to his inspirations and influences, from Realism and the pre-Raphaelites to Symbolism and the art of Matisse and Cézanne.
