Arno River Ices Over

With the arrival of temperatures hovering just at or slightly below 0° degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit) in Florence, fog has blanketed the city in the early morning and the surface waters of the Arno River have become a thin sheet of ice, much to the surprise of the local colony of birds, including ducks.  To see a slide show of beautiful frozen imagery, visit Florence’s La Repubblica news site.
