Bus & Tram Fares Increase Starting August 2026

For residents and tourists alike, Florence’s public transportation is an integral part of one’s daily routine – during summer heat and winter cold. It is therefore important  to know that Autolinee Toscane has raised the fare of bus and tramline tickets by €0.30, from €1.70 to €2.00, effective August 1, 2026.

What does this mean for those with previously purchased tickets and seasonal passes? Here is a breakdown of what has changed and what will remain the same.

As mentioned above, the cost of the Urbano Capoluogo ticket, which permits travel within each of the region’s 10 provincial capitals including Florence, is now €2.00, valid for Prato, Pistoia, Massa Carrara, Arezzo, Grosseto, Pisa, Siena, Livorno and Lucca. The Urbano Capoluogo ticket can also be used to travel in the  Valdarno, specifically in the following places: Bucine, Castelfranco Piandiscò, Cavriglia, Laterina Pergine Valdarno, Loro Ciuffenna, Montevarchi, San Giovanni Valdarno, Terranuova Bracciolini and Figline.

Additionally, the cost of the Urbano Maggiore ticket for other Tuscan cities and towns has increased from €1.30 to €1.50. These price changes are reflected in the new cost of the 10 trip pass for both ticket types; €18.20 for Urbano Capoluogo and €14.40 for Urbano Maggiore.

The monthly pass for Urbano Capluogo has increased from €38.70 to €42.20, however, the three month and annual passes remain unchanged, each still costing €104.50 and €342.80 respectively. Likewise, the discounted annual pass for students has remained the same at the price of €278.70.

For regional bus routes connecting cities, towns and villages, the distance fares have increased to €2.00 for the 0-10 kilometer ticket and to €3.40 for the 10-20 kilometers ticket. Similar to the urban passes, the cost for only the monthly pass for buses has increased; the new cost is €56.00.

Important to note is that any tickets purchased before or on July 31, 2026 will still be valid until January 31, 2027. Likewise, seasonal passes acquired prior to the price increases will continue to be accepted until their pre-established expiration date.
