Collecting Classics at ‘Vintage Selection 38’

 

June 29 – July 1, 2022: VINTAGE SELECTION n. 38 “Into the Wild.” Ghiaia Pavilion of Fortezza da Basso. Viale Filippo Strozzi, 1 Florence. Open to the general public as well as buyers. Opening times differ depending on the day; June 29 – 30: 9 am – 6 pm, July 1: 9 am- 4 pm. Admission: €5, with options for reduced pricing available on the website. 

Calling all sustainable fashion lovers and Pitti Filati enthusiasts alike, Vintage Selection returns to the city of Florence with its 38th edition for a three-day-long event. At the Ghiaia Pavilion, vintage-era (up to the ’90s) clothing, shoes, accessories, including design pieces, are both on display and for sale.

Taking place concurrently with Pitti Filati, the two fairs are in close collaboration due to the similarities in themes: Into the Wild, specifically addressing Fall/Winter 2023/2024 trends. Pitti Filati appeals to a prestigious international audience while unveiling knitwear to buyers and designers. Vintage Selection will show how the theme has evolved throughout fashion history within the creative spaces curated by Angelo Figus and Nicola Miller. 

A total of 12 Italian-based exhibitors will exhibit a treasure trove of items.  Participants include A.N.G.E.L.O Vintage; Anna Maria e Margherita Vintage; Giratempo Vintage Firenze; Hunter Vintage Firenze; Officine Li Volsi; Plus Venturino Archivi; Shabby Chic Vintage; Sovain; SP Vintage; Street Doing Vintage Couture Firenze and Vintage Delirium di Franco Jacassi.

A.N.G.E.L.O Vintage by Angelo Caroli is the holy grail of vintage clothing and accessories worldwide and Italy. What started as a low-priced store stacked with U.S.A. labels is now an influence on designers and magazines internationally. Caroli curates his collection carefully, with fashion pieces dating from the mid-nineteenth century to the nineties. Street Doing Vintage Couture offers labels from the 1920s to the present. Located in the heart of Florence’s city center, the store is known for attracting researchers, and vintage fanatics. Another focal point of this week’s fashion events , Pitti Filatii nvites the best Italian and international yarn and knitwear producers to present their fall/winter 2023-2024 collections. While most designers are entrenched in the fair’s history, new entries and collections are present throughout the trade fair.
