Crown Molding Falls in Sant’Ambrogio

Part of a crown molding collapsed from an ancient building onto the street in Piazza Sant’Ambrogio just beforevdawn on July 2.  Luckily, no one was passing by at that hour, and the only witness to the event was the owner of a nearby newsstand who was receiving a delivery of newspapers before opening for the day.

The area is popular in the evening until late at night thanks to patio dining attracting people for drinks or dinner.  Currently, piazza Sant’Ambrogio is off limits to all until cleanup and investigations into the reasons behind the collapse are established.
