Dance Shows, Workshops & Auditions at the 2024 ‘Danza in Fiera’ Festival

 

Fri. 23 – Sun. 24: DANZA IN FIERA dance fair.  Fortezza da Basso.  Open 9 am – 8 pm. Admission to the general public: €20, €10 for dancers who participate in a lesson or an audition, €15 for buyers.

PITTI IMMAGINE invites Florence to their celebration of dance, DANZA IN FIERA. Offering admission for both the general public and members of the dance community, DANZA IN FIERA has something for everyone. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned dancer, buyer or vendor, DANZA IN FIERA promises a weekend of both ticketed and free lessons, dance showcases, meet and greets and book presentations. Each dancer will be able to book up to four activities per day of the festival, excluding reviews and competitions. 

For 18 years, DANZA IN FIERA has prided itself on creating a universal meeting place for professionals in the dance industry, schools, companies and dancers alike. A confluence of dance aficionados, DANZA IN FIERA is known for organizing extensive programming where stages, classrooms and exhibition spaces can synchronize. Attendees can immerse themselves in the world of dance across a myriad of genres, such as classical ballet, jazz, hip hop, flamenco, tango, afro, tap dance, breakdance and more. This year’s theme, “All Beats to Dance,” centers around the “entire varied world of dance” and celebrates the diversity of dancers, genres and disciplines. 

The event will be hosting a wide array of auditions for both Italian and international dance companies, including opportunities for dancers to win scholarships. GCDANCEEVENTS is offering a classical dance masterclass with Artistic Director Giuseppe Canale on February 23rd. Seeking 12-20 year olds of an intermediate-advanced level, participating dancers have an opportunity to audition for, and win scholarships for, the partner organizations of GCDANCEEVENTS, listed in full on their website. Also on the 23rd, the TV program Amici di Maria de Filippi will be presenting a special modern audition lesson in collaboration with dancer Ilir Shaquiri, where entrants have the potential to be granted scholarships to Dance United Tirana, NotJustDance and Dance Excellence events. This is truly a phenomenal occasion for both seasoned dancers and those of budding talent to pursue their passions professionally. DANZA IN FIERA will also be showcasing various panels in Fortezza da Basso’s TALK AREA concerning the current state of the dance industry, including a free talk on February 23rd for parents of dancers called “A ballet career: the right steps for your career,” which centers how to support young dancers in guiding their future pursuits in the industry. Presentations also include book talks, such as an opportunity to meet with Marinella Santini, author of “Giocodanza”, on February 23rd.
