The most popular and most attended music festival in Italy is coming to Florence again. For two days, more than 20 artists will perform on two different stages at the Decibel Open Air music festival.

Some of the top DJs in the world will be featured in this year’s line-up. On Saturday, the artists that will be performing include Black Coffee, the Martinez Brothers, Joesph Capriarti, Loco Dice, Matrixxman, RØdhÅd, Stephan Bodzin Live, Giorgio Gigli, Somp Boxx. On Sunday, DJs that will be playing include Armin Van Buuren, Infected Mushroom, Deborah De Luca, Felix Krocher, Fisher, Ilario Alicante, Marco Faraone, Riva Starr, Anotr, Bastian Bux, George Privatti, and Tini Gessler.

Originally a new wave keyboard player and a classical pianist, Amit Duvdevanu and Erez Aizen created their group, Infected Mushroom, after they traveled to India together. Their first album “Classical Mushroom” was released in 2000, which kick-started their career. Since then, they have been listed in the “10 Best DJ’s” of DJ Magazine twice and just debuted their 12th album “Head of NASA and 2 Amish Boys” in 2018.

Black Coffee, another recognizable name in EDM, grew up in South Africa during apartheid. Despite losing the use of his arm when he was 14, he has worked his way to success, having more than 250 shows a year. He has performed at Coachella and Tomorrowland, two of the biggest music festivals in the world, and has collaborated with Drake, Pharrell Williams, and many more talented artists.

Before becoming a known DJ, Deborah De Luca was a waitress, a dancer, and went to school for fashion. In 2013, she founded the label “Sola_mente Records” and a few years later, she became known as a DJ.

Since the rise of popularity of EDM music in the early 2000s, DJs are now able to reach world status. EDM artists are no longer shadowed by big names in pop music and therefore, have the opportunity to share their passion with the world. (sierra case)
