Disney’s’ Fantasia’ to Live Music at the Teatro del Maggio

The Maggio Musicale Orchestra will interpret classical music from the Disney animated films “Fantasia” and “Fantasia 2000,” accompanied by synchronized images from the two films in performances on January 3 (8 pm) and January 4 (5 pm) and January 5 (3:30 pm).  The show will take place at Teatro del Maggio (piazzale Vittorio Gui, 1).

The program comprises famous compositions such as Beethoven’s Symphony n. 6 (The Pastoral Symphony), Debussy’s “Clair de Lune” and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Dukas.  Timothy Brock will conduct the musicians in presenting “Fantasia – Live in Concert.”

Leopold Stokowski conducted the Philadelphia Orchestra in the creation of the original 1940 soundtrack, which was one of the earliest stereo recordings, segued by James Levine and Chicago Symphony Orchestra for the more recent sequel.
