Dozens of dog owners brought their pets to stage a peaceful protest in Piazza d’Azeglio on October 8, 2018 to bring attention to the fact that the city of Florence had promised that a park of the square would be reserved for their four-legged friends.  The demonstration turned into a celebration, however; a city representative announced that authorization had been granted to fence in a portion of Piazza d’Azeglio so dogs can run free, without collar and leash.  This should be completed by March 2019.
