Easter Monday (Pasquetta) in Florence 2026

SPECIAL EVENT
A legal holiday in Italy, Easter Monday is traditionally a day to relax with family and friends, typically celebrating in the countryside, sharing plates of food al fresco. This year, on April 6, the Visarno Hippodrome in Cascine Park will be opened to the public, providing a convivial space for families to spend the entire day, picnicking, relaxing and socialising.
From 11 am to 8 pm, the expansive grounds will be transformed from a racecourse into a social space. A large picnic blanket of over 300 square meters will welcome the public, who are also encouraged to bring their own extra blankets and food and snacks from home. Grills are provided to for barbecuing, and street food stalls and bars are available if cooking does not sound tempting.
In addition to relaxation and picnic areas, a dance floor, volleyball court, ping pong tables and an antique fair will provide entertainment throughout the day for all family members.
Entry is free with prior booking on eventbrite.it. Otherwise, tickets cost 3 euros per person on the day. Parking areas are available nearby, alternatively, it is reachable by the tramlines T1 and T2. Please note: bringing alcohol in is not permitted but there are fully stocked bars.
MUSEUMS
This Easter Monday, the Galleria dell’Accademia, the Medici Chapels and the Orsanmichele complex will be exceptionally open to the public from 8.15 am to 6.50 pm in addition to the Villa Bardini garden between 10 am and 7:30 pm, which hosts the National Geographic photo display “Oceans”, that can be visited during the same hours.
