‘Fabbrica Europa’ Arts Festival 2025 Inaugural Week

A production by Romeo Castellucci

Opening Sept. 13: FABBRICA EUROPA: International multidisciplinary arts festival. Various venues throughout Florence. Tickets are priced between  €5-€25, and will be available for purchase online at ticketzone.it,or in person at  Boxoffice sale points.

Since 1994, Fabbrica Europa has provided a Florentine stage for the dynamic and multidisciplinary life of both the Italian and global avant-garde performing arts scenes. The numbers speak for themselves:  Fabbrica Europa 2025 will feature 130 artists from 10 countries across 70 shows, performances, workshops, and talks. ‘This year more than ever’, so the festival advertises, ‘Fabbrica Europa presents  itself as a living, pulsating organism, capable of weaving together artistic geographies, critical thinking,  and communities.’ These are ‘not just events, but a shared journey’ — one that aims to generate a  month-long sensorial experience, and to maintain and breathe fresh life into the ancient geist of  Florence.

The month-long festival encompasses a huge variety of events taking place at a range of locations and  venues throughout Florence and Tuscany. The festival’s opening, on September 13, features a performance by Romeo Castellucci entitled ‘Senza Titolo’ (‘Untitled’). The title itself, much like  Castellucci’s dramaturgy, is not without abstraction. But it is focussed and grounded by the materiality of his performance art, which exploits the interaction between the bodies of his participants and the physical and sensorial world around them. His dramaturgy is ‘made of extraordinarily rich images expressed in a language as comprehensible as music, sculpture, painting or architecture.’ Castellucci’s  piece will take place at Ex Centrale termica Fiat di Novoli, Firenze.
