Florence Holy Week Services & Festivities 2023 In English

Santi Apostoli is a Catholic church in Florence located at Piazza Limbo 1 that provides a variety of church services in English. On Good Friday, April 7, the church will hold a Celebration of Passion in English at 6 pm. An English Vigil Mass, in Italian and English, will take place at 10 pm on Holy Saturday, April 8. On Easter Sunday, Santi Apostoli will hold an English mass at 10:30 am.

 More worship in English is offered at St. James American Church located at Via Rucellai 9, near the Santa Maria Novella train station. On Maundy Thursday, April 6, the church will have a service at 7 pm. The following day on Good Friday the church will host two services, one at noon and the other at 7 pm. On Easter Sunday there will be an 11 am Eucharist followed by an Easter egg hunt and Prosecco toast in the garden. St. James is an Episcopal church, but all faiths are welcome.

The public is also invited to St. Mark’s Anglican Church, located on Via Maggio 16, across from Ponte Santa Trinita. On April 6 at 7 pm the church will offer Holy Eucharist to celebrate Maundy Thursday. The following day the church will celebrate Good Friday, with a service from 12 – 3 pm called Three Hours at the Cross. The service will offer a space for quiet prayer, reflection, and music. On Easter Sunday, the High Sung Mass of the Resurrection is scheduled at 10:30 am, led by Fr. Ainsley Swift. Following this, community members are invited to a “Bring and Share,”  a potluck-style lunch in the refectory.
