Florence Held Hostage by the Heat

Today was a scorcher in Florence, where the temperature reached a high of 38° C (100° Fahrenheit).  There is no relief in sight, as temperature are expected to hit 40° C (104° Fahrenheit) on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2.  There are thunderstorms forecast for Monday, August 3 that will lead to some refreshing coolness before the heat returns to stifling levels next Thursday and Friday.

The municipality has issued a red weather alert, advising citizens to stay indoors as much as possible and drink a lot of water.
