Florence Vintage Market & AIRC Azalea Sales
Mother’s Day weekend in Florence will bring two benefit events: the sale of azaleas (a perfect gift for moms) in local squares to raise money for cancer research, and the Florence Vintage Market, with proceeds donated to the home and hospice care of the terminally ill and support for their families.
The Florence Vintage Market will take place at Palazzo Corsini (Lungarno Corsini 8) from Friday, May 6 to Sunday, May 8. Hours are 10 am – 6 pm.
Guests will find a vast selection of vintage clothing for women, men and children, ranging from designer brands and tailor made to off-the-rack. Also for sale are accessories, including costume jewelery. All have been donated by wealthy patrons. Admission to the Florence Vintage Market is free, and wearing a mask is recommended according to current anti-Covid health protocols.
Volunteers representing AIRC Foundation for Cancer Research will be selling colorfully pink azaleas on Sunday, May 8 to aid the cause in the following Florence squares and streets: piazza Santo Spirito, piazza Dalmazia, Piazza dell’Isolotto, piazza delle Cure, piazzale Donatello, piazzale di Porta Romana, via Pellicceria under the portico, via Reginaldo Giuliani, via Roma at the corner of via Tosinghi, outside the church of San Miniato al Monte, and piazza Elia Dalla Costa.
182,00 women every year in Italy are diagnosed with cancer, and the €15 price of each plant will be donated to scientists who are working on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. The flowers can also be purchased on Amazon.it for home delivery as a Mother’s Day gift. (rosanna cirigliano)
