On January 19, 2019, millions of people around the world will unite for the third annual Global Women’s March.

Here in Florence, women and men alike are invited to gather that day at Piazza San Lorenzo between 2:30 and 4:30 pm in order to show support for equal rights for women.  The group responsible for organizing the Florence event, “Indivisible TUScany” (which is working in conjunction with Democrats Abroad Florence and U.S. Citizens Against the War Florence), will translate every speech into Italian so that local audience members can understand the content.  Participants are welcome to create signs during the event.

While the march focuses on women’s issues, there is also an emphasis on world peace, social justice, racial, gender, and religious equality, environmental protection, immigration rights, accessible education and healthcare for all.   (molly hamilton)
