Florence’s Mercato Centrale Offers Food Discounts
The ground floor of the historic Central Market in the San Lorenzo district created an initiative at the beginning of this month to offer their products at lower costs. The discounts are published every Saturday for the week ahead on their Facebook page. Until the end of February, customers can find meat, seafood, bread, cheese, and other goods for up to 30% off.
In conjunction with lower costs, the shops and stalls of the Market also aim to defend zero mile or “zero kilometer” food and Tuscan specialities – referring to the way they only source their products from local farms near Florence and within Tuscany – and bring back support for small businesses and the economy. Customers are reassured that when shopping at the Central Market they are always receiving fresh, high quality goods. This week a range of fresh pasta, fruit, salami, steaks and poultry are available at discounted prices.
Delivery is also available for those not wanting to leave the safety and comfort of home. Simply call one store with everything you need and they will do the shopping for you, then taking all your groceries straight to your door.
Mercato Centrale, Piazza del Mercato Centrale, Monday to Friday 7 am – 2 pm, Saturday 7 am – 5 pm. Closed Sundays. (cathy doherty)
