Florence’s Top Pizzerias for 2025

Florence is known for many things. It’s interesting history, beautiful architecture and incredible food. Pizza is no exception. As revealed in the 2025 Top 50 Pizza rankings, three of the coveted top 50 spots were in Florence. Here is a guide to Florence’s best pizza spots, by neighbourhood.
Just outside of the city centre, is the celebrated Pizzeria Giovanni Santarpia, on the Via Senese. The Top 50 Pizza judges ranked it as the 34th best pizzeria for 2025, making it the highest rated pizzeria in the city of Florence. Described as ‘a true gem for pizza lovers’, Pizzeria Giovanni Santarpia’s outstanding reputation lies in the passion head chef and owner Giovanni Santarpia has for pizza. Santarpia combines Neapolitan influences; a commitment to finding the best quality ingredients amd his innovative creations known as the Santarpizze.
Past Santa Croce is the Il Vecchio e il Mare pizzeria, rated as the 48th best pizzeria in Italy in the 2025 rankings. Managed by chef-owner duo Pasquale Naccari and Mario Cipriano, the pizzeria combines traditional Neapolitan influences with their own signature twist, including (as the name would suggest) delicious fresh fish toppings. They also serve panfried pizza, praised for its light, perfectly crafted dough. Another fantastic pizza restaurant in the Santa Croce area is Le Follie di Romualdo pizzeria, managed by acclaimed chef Romualdo Rizzuti and priding themselves on their seasonal and organic ingredients.
Around the Santa Maria Nouvella is Giotto Pizzeria, ranked as the 49th best pizza restaurant in 2025. Giotto is popular with both tourists and locals, being praised for its amazing service, high quality ingredients, and delicious Neapolitan style pizza. Their menu features collaborations with well-known chefs, such as the ‘Bistecca’, a focaccia with demi-glace and beef carpaccio. Their pizza is so popular that they have opened another location on via Francesco Veracini.
Outside of the city of Florence to the northeast is a rising star on the Florentine pizza scene, Gli Allocchi pizzeria. Gli Allocchi is in municipality of Marradi, known for its stunning greenery and (now) amazing pizza. This pizzeria is only 2 years old but was ranked as the 100th best pizzeria in Italy in the Top Pizza rankings. This pizzeria uses fresh and locally sourced ingredients, inspiring the ‘Marradese’ pizza that uses local Mugello chestnuts. Gli Allocchi has also been praised for their variety in crust, featuring traditional Neapolitan style, ricotta filled crust and classic Tuscan crunchiness. Despite being off the beaten path, this pizzeria is well worth coming out for.
As shown by the Top 50 Pizza awards, Florence has several of the best pizza restaurants in Italy. These pizzerias’ combine the freshest ingredients, the perfect balance of classical and innovative ideas, and chefs with a passion for their food, cementing Florence’s place as one of Italy’s best food cities.
