Florence Water Pressure Lowered

The public fountain in piazza Santo Spirito

Due to work on tubing and pipes–new and old–connecting to the local aqueduct, many residents in Florence will experience either a lack of water or a significant lowering of water pressure from August 10 – 11.

These are the areas that will be affected:

  • Rifredi, Novoli, Cascine: Either lowered water pressure or water switched off on August 10 between 6 and 8 am, 12:30 – 2 pm, 7 – 9 pm.
  • Florence’s historical center: Either lowered water pressure or water switched off on August 10 between 6 and 8 am, 12:30 – 2 pm, 7 – 9 pm.
  • Cure Alte, Careggi-Massoni, Serpiolle, Trespiano: Either lowered water pressure or water switched off on August in the evening hours and at night.
  • Stadium, Marignolle: Either lowered water pressure or water switched off on August 10 between 6 and 8 am, 12:30 – 2 pm, 7 – 9 pm.
  • Isolotto-Canova, Peretola, Ugnano: Either lowered water pressure or water switched off on August 10 between 6 and 8 am, 12:30 – 2 pm, 7 – 9 pm.

Work is slated to end in the early morning hours of August 11, and the water supply will normalize gradually during the day.

During this period of temporary water scarcity, washing cars is prohibited until August 12; people who do so risk a fine ranging from €100 to €500.

While work in going on, traffic will be rerouted.  Cars and trucks transiting on via Lavagnini will be directed to viale Don Minzoni in direction of Le Cure or along viale Matteotti to reach piazzale Donatello/via Pier Capponi-via Benivieni-via della Robbia.  Those driving towards piazza delle Libertà can take via Da Vinci-via Pascoli-via Mafalda di Savoia-via Ponte Rosso towards viale Milton.  (rosanna cirigliano)
