Free Guided Visits to Santo Spirito on International Tour Guide Day

Florence’s licensed tour guides are generously offering free guided visits of the basilica of Santo Spirito on Saturday, February 21, from 10 am – 12 noon. The gift by these knowledgable locals marks International Tour Guide Day. No reservation necessary.
It’s a perfect opportunity to explore the serene architecture of the church, also a showcase for a Madonna and Child work by Filippino Lippi, and a Michelangelo crucifix. Santo Spirito was designed by Brunelleschi although the facade he envisioned was never completed. The church is under the guidance of Catholic clergy of the Augustinian order, to which Pope Leo XIV belongs.
