Storytelling Through Photography: Free Talk in English

“From Image to Emotion: Telling the Story” is the title of free talk in English by professional photographer Alessandro Galatoli on Wednesday, January 28 (6:30 pm) at the CEA CAPA Study Center, Via dei’ Pandolfini 20.
This lecture explores how storytelling functions as a powerful tool in contemporary photography. After introducing the cultural and scientific foundations of storytelling, including the neurochemical responses that shape audience engagement, the session examines how these principles translate into visual strategies within high-pressure, fast-paced environments such as fashion, red carpets, and festivals. Drawing on selected images from Alessandro Galatoli’s professional work, the lecture demonstrates how narrative intention, emotional impact, and a distinctive visual signature are essential to creating meaningful, compelling, and recognizable photographic work today.
Galatoli is a professional photographer working in fashion, editorial, and cinema event photography. His career spans international platforms, from film sets and red carpets to festivals, fashion weeks, and brand campaigns across Europe and the United States. His images are published in international magazines and distributed through global media agencies.
He is also the author of a book on Visual Storytelling and teaches photography and visual communication in American study abroad programs in Florence, where he explores how storytelling, visual neuroscience, and personal style shape powerful and distinctive photographic work.
Refreshments will follow.
