Free Tram City Tour

Touring the beautiful city of Florence can be a pain at times, the city is just so spread out! For all of the lazy adventurers, a three-hour Tram Tour will be offered Saturday, Dec. 1.  

The TramTour was established to discover and expand knowledge of historical and artistic locations along the route of the new  tramway line. The whole tour is six kilometers and it starts in the city center. Participation is free, guests just need a public transportation ticket.

The agenda:

At 9:30 am, participants must meet at the Porta al Prato-Leopolda stop and there will be a visit of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale, the city’s opera house.

By 10:30 am, the tram will stop at the Almanni Station and there will be a tour of the Chiostro Grande of the Santa Maria Nuova complex. The Chiostro Grande is filled with must-see 16th century frescos done by Alessandro Allori, Santi di Tito, Ludovico Cigoli, and Bernardino Poccetti.

The final destination at the piazza Leopolda tram stop, where there will be a guided visit of the Stibbert Museum collectionat 11:30 am. The museum is comprised of European, Islamic, and Japanese armory, paintings, ceramics, and costumes. The initiative is set to conclude at 12:30 pm.  (beatrice paolucci)
