Giorgio Pinchiorri Accused of Stalking

Sommelier Giorgio Pinchiorri, 75, is currently under investigation for the crime of stalking by Florence’s district attorney’s office.  Pinchiorri is world famous thanks to his wine cellar that is part of the complex of the three-star Michelin Enoteca Pinchiorri restaurant on Florence’s via Ghibellina, which he runs along with his French wife, chef Annie Féolde.

Pinchiorri was identified and stopped by police last week when a 33-year-old woman, despite a restraining order, found him waiting outside the restaurant in downtown Florence where she now works.  Her boyfriend was also waiting to take her home, as he normally does.  This precaution was taken, according to the young woman, because of Pinchiorri’s obsessive behavior: phone calls and text messages at all hours of the day and night, unwanted gifts and actual stalking, following her at a distance.

His accuser, also a sommelier, is the daughter of a family friend, and a former employee of the Enoteca Pinchiorri, a prestigious job she said she quit in 2016 due to the entrepreneur’s inappropriate workplace attitude and conduct.  (rosanna cirigliano)
