Hiromi at the Fiesole Summer Festival

After hosting a month of L’Estate Fiesolana, Fiesole’s Roman Theater is ready for more performances through July 26. Come relax under the stars for an enchanting evening of art.

Of the many jazz concerts in the festival, one of its best may have been saved for July 2, though the performer might not admit it. Despite being classified as belonging to the genre, and while Japanese musician Hiromi admits there are “elements of classical music, some rock, [and] more jazz” in her songs, she considers it “the union of what I hear and what I learn” and “[doesn’t] want to give it a name.”

She has had a distinguished career that started at an early age; at 14, she was a member of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, and then enrolled in the Berklee College of Music. She will be performing her unique sound with the other members of her trio: Anthony Jackson on the bass and Simon Phillips on the drums (admission €26/22, reduced €24/20; Roman Theater, 9:30 pm).  (bianca cockrell)
