Holiday Children’s Reading at the British Institute

To start off the holidays right, kids and parents are welcome to listen to the magical Christmas story “The Polar Express” read in English at the British Institute Library (Lungarno Guicciardini, 9) on Thursday, December 13.

The award-winning children’s book, “The Polar Express” by Chris Van Allsburg is about a curious, brave boy who hops on a magical train with other children that takes them to the North Pole on Christmas Eve. On his adventure, he makes new friends and meets Santa Claus who promises to give one kid a gift of his or her choosing. The story is beautifully written and has breathtaking illustrations to see.

The library holds Storytime monthly for ages 3 to 8, but all ages are welcome. The reading will take place in its children’s area where hot chocolate and marshmallows will be served and carols will be sung. The reading starts at 5 pm and their Afternoon Tea upstairs is open from 4:30 to 6 pm. Those with a library membership can get in for free while others need to purchase a day pass for €6, and the Afternoon Tea is served with a minimum contribution of €1.50.

“The Polar Express” is a great way to spend a chilly evening with your family listening to a holiday story with music and refreshments. (sienna kirk)
