The Ferris Wheel returns to Florence for the holidays

As the holiday season approaches, the tallest Ferris wheel in Italy is confirmed to be back in Florence from the beginning of December until January 2023. The 55-meter (180 ft.) Ferris wheel will be located at the Florence Ice Village at the Fortezza da Basso. In addition, the Florence Ice Village will also host an ice-skating rink, food stalls and Christmas markets as well as other attractions for families and children.

According to Mayor Nardella, the project will be organized according to current environmental sustainability measures to avoid energy waste by using alternative and green sources of energy. The Cultural Heritage Superintendent Antonella Ranaldi has already given permission for the Ferris wheel to be set up this week and is expected to be open to the public from December 2 to January 25.

The ride on the Ferris wheel lasts around 4-5 minutes with panoramic views of Florence and ticket prices range from €12 – €7. €12 for a full ticket, €10 for residents, €7 for children. (Michela Tambasco)
