Holiday Weekend Museum & Park Openings

Through May 1, the Bardini Gardens is offering guided tours of the grounds with a special focus on its magnificent arbor of wisteria (see a Repubblica Firenze slide show) with an overlook of the city.  The hour-and-a-half visit, which starts at 5 pm, is guided by a landscape architect who will provide insight into the botany, design and history of the space.  Reservations at www.beemyguide.com.

Wander through the grove of traditional Tuscan fruit trees, pass under pergolas entwined with roses, pass by hydrangeas, to eventually float in the clouds with Florence at your feet.  Admire from here the majestic iris-lined staircase, the limonaia (a greenhouse for citrus trees), and the little amphitheater nestled in the lawn.  Inhale the fragrant scent of blossoming flowers.  The €10 admission includes entrance to the current exhibition of classic illustrations from children’s literature: Pinocchio, Harry Potter, Mickey Mouse, Heidi and Others.
