Jazz Offerings at Piazzale Michelangelo’s Flower

Pop-up restaurant/bar Flower al Piazzale in Piazzale Michelangelo is offering two exciting live performances from leading jazz musicians on the evenings Friday, May 24 and Saturday, May 25. The venue will also provide an all-Tuscan menu of food and drinks alongside their stunning terrace and cityscape view. Doors open from 7 pm.

Friday evening features Jazztronic, a project which dedicates itself to a funk and lounge concept with a combination of electronic sounds, rhythmic loops, and additional developments from instruments such as saxophone, flute, and trumpet. The lead musician of the evening is saxophonist Stefano Corrado, who, together with electronics and synthesizers by musician Luca Bani, will produce and perform original jazz compositions.

The following and final day of the event presents Jazz Parking, an ensemble which will feature musicians from both new and old generations from within the CambiaMusica Firenze Association. The performance will include experimentation and improvisation, featuring artists such as Francesco Pantusa on saxophone and Bernardo Sacconi on double bass.

The venue will additionally be offering a Tuscan menu of pizza, crostini, sliced meats and cheeses, and salads, as well as an extensive selection of libations, ranging from easy-going beers and wines to the use of elaborate mixology in their optional cocktails.

At the helm of Flower is the association Art in Progress, in collaboration with Controradio, La Nottola di Minerva and Collective for the Art of Sound. ART in Progress is an association that has among its objectives the creation of projects for leisure and for entertainment, designed each time taking into account the social and cultural realities of the territories with which it intends to interact.

Until the beginning of June, the zero-impact kiosk by Flower, characterized by a setting that favors wood and recycled materials, will host musical entertainment and quality catering every evening. The activities will then resume in July, with meetings, debates, live performances, great guests and music, after one stop of about a month necessary to leave the field open to concerts and Fochi di San Giovanni at Piazzale Michelangelo.

The name ‘Flower’ is actually an acronym of the company’s motto: “For living on a wonderful ecological resource.” Their idea is to be able to experience an environment that takes into account its natural potential. It is ecology understood not only in reference to nature, but also in a way of life. (karl whittaker)
