Lecture in English: ‘ Italy in the American Imagination’
The British Institute Library hosts a talk in English every Wednesday at the British Institute Library (Lungarno Guiccardini 9) at 6 pm. To attend in person, one must send an email to bif@britishinstitute.it and pay €15 at the door. The lecture last roughly an hour, followed by questions and complementary wine and snacks are served afterwards. Otherwise the event is live streamed on Zoom with voluntary donations welcome.
On Wednesday, October 9, the topic is Italy in the American Imagination.
Historian Ian J. Bickerton from the University of New South Wales tells stories of artists, writers, musicians, and architects who found profound inspiration in Italy’s history, artistic legacy, and stunning landscapes. He examines how these creative individuals influenced the way Americans have come to envision their own identity.
